The Winner Takes it All

Our story begins in the life of Someone.  A Someone who has no name…who began life as only a piece of fabric and buttons.  It was all thanks to Sarah York that this story was able to begin…

A simple toy maker by trade and a child at heart, Sarah spent the majority of her adult life  creating some of the most intricate and fantastic dolls and toys known to any sim.  Her little toy shop was open for nearly 60 years before the old girl finally had enough of the business.   Sarah retreated into her workshop, from which a mysterious toy or two would venture out into the world.

As people do…talk occurred.  A witch is what they called her, her dolls were alive they said.  She was making Sim replacements, creating living creatures with magic!  Sarah had to be honest…they weren’t far from the truth.

Her workshop was filled with toys…who were far from normal.  At first…she hadn’t planned them that way, the magic…just happened.   It had all started with the Gnomes…who seemed to move about the workshop on their own, and in some situations…multiplied.

Then, in order to retain her sanity, Sarah began making the one thing she had always loved to create…dolls.  Simple dolls, no more than fabric, stuffing, and a few buttons.  Surely no magic would find its way here…

Little did she know, Sarah had created Someone….Someone special.  She didn’t stop there.  Sarah created hundreds of Someones, each one just a little different than the last.  She sold most, keeping only her first four creations, her first four Someones.

As it does, time passed.  Sarah continued to create her normal, average, run-of-the-mill dolls… she crafted many other toys, but still…there was something special about this doll.  She couldn’t part with it, keeping it practically glued to her side.

And again, as people do, the world began to talk.  Most still called her a crazy old witch and could swear they saw things move in the house when no one was home… But Sarah protested, her Someones wouldn’t do that…after all they were her normal, average, run-of-the-mill dolls.

As time progressed, Sarah began to see her dolls for what they were…whatever they were.  Sarah felt joy when she shared a room with them, felt love and comfort when she held them…  She could swear she had seen one of them shed a tear when she fell, another smile when she came home from the hospital.  Sarah began to understand just a little too late.

Death is never a pleasant experience… Sarah had lived a full life, a fulfilled life.  But in all honestly, in death she would miss her dolls, her Someones.  A final plea with Death earned her the chance to write a will, leaving each of her creations to those who would enjoy them…

Taking a final look over her creations…Sarah passed from this world…  That’s when everything changed…

The Someones began to notice their friends disappearing one-by-one as more Sim creatures came in and took them…

They disappeared…until the day when the world went black.  The day the room grew small…grew cramped.

For two months the four dolls who had no names sat in the small, dark, cramped room.  They were shook, tossed, thrown, and jerked…  it was a sad existence for such magical, loving dolls.  The sadness and lack of hope grew…the light and magic began to fade…  Life without Sarah…life without love, without hope… the Someones began to feel like Noones…

That is…until the day the roof lifted off of the small room, and each of the little wonders were thrust into the arms of little Sim creatures.

That day the Noones again became Someones…no, it was better than that.  They were given names…

Meet Robin Someone and his Sim Creature Max Richmond.

Meet Snow Someone and her Sim Creature Lily Richmond.

Meet Sunny Someone and his Sim Creature Kari Richmond.

Meet Violet Someone and her Sim Creature Nell Richmond…

Now, reader… I wish I could say that this was the start of a happy life for the Someones…but remember, we called this “The Legend of Someone…”  I wish I could have called it “The Legend of Someones…”, but life isn’t always fair or bright…  And my dear reader, only one of Sarah’s loves will continue on from this trek. . . . .

Sarah’s name is the first of the pop-culture names.  She is a character from Revenge of the Dolls by Carol Beach York.  She, unlike our Sarah, created ugly little dolls and was a mean, evil old witch.

“The Winner Takes it All” by ABBA takes our title….
